Deutsche Schäferhunde vom Sankt Martiner Tal

I apologize, if I missed out on some calls or Mails you might have send to me. The kennel project did take a greater toll on me then I suspected, in everey direction...... timewise, moneywise and last workwise ! Neverless, it looks like that everything will be done in a little while and hopefully, all will get back to normal.

Here is a brief discription of the kennel " vom Sankt Martiner Tal ".

We, that is my wife Christel and my son Christopher, started breeding in the beginning of 2006. Actually, it was me, but without the help and the patience of my family, i would have not been able to. Thanks to both of you.

In 2004/05 a good friend, Mr. Vogt tried to get me into breeding. He is a breeder with over 30 years under his belt. Mr. Vogt took me into his kennel and showed me one of his litters, and he had me hooked there & then ! I was very fortunate, as he was willing to share his vast experience and knowledge with me. Now, after a lot of thinking, i decided to have my kennel name registered with the SV ( Verein für Deutsche Schäferhunde ). This was done in June 2005. Still i had the feeling that i should learn more about breeding standart within the SV, so i became a breedwarden in August 2005.

Now was the time to be on the lookout for a nice female for my breedings. I was able to buy the proven female Anka vom Riemerlehen in December of 2005 - what a nice X-Mas present ! Then in March my A-litter was whelped, sired by Janos von der Noriswand. It was freezing cold and i was sitting in that kennel for over 12 hours ! This was an exciting night, and i am glad that Anka was pretty cool about it ! In September my B - litter was born, sired by Karat's Ulk, everything went a little smother on my side this time.

After all, without the help of other GSD enthusiast, as specially the help of Mr. Vogt, i would have not been able to be at the point that i am at. Not only did Mr. Vogt share his knowledge with me, i cannot count the hours he helped me building kennels, seeking out a stud etc. ! Thank you very much Lothar !

Last i would like to mention, that there is always the discussion about the workability of " Showline GSD's ". My opinion is, that it depends a lot on the breeding and line a dog is coming from. If you have a stable and sound breeding, chances are, if the dog is trained and cared for properly, a GSD will be willingly able to perform any duty you ask him to.  So my first and foremost goal is, to breed healthy and stable GSD's.
